HOW TO INCREASE YOUR LAPTOP'S BATTERY HOURS AND LIFE SPAN?

HOW TO SAVE YOUR LAPTOPS BATTERY POWER FOR LONG HOURS?

Laptop batteries come designed to last for a particular number of hours but that is factory setting, when laptops come to the real world people use them for different purposes and our actions tend to drain our batteries faster than the company ratings.

So we end up complaining because all the company will tell you is the battery hours but not how to use your laptop to attain that battery life. So here are a few things I found out that drain your laptop so fast and how to prevent them, after applying these you will find out that your laptop’s battery will last even longer.

BRIGHTNESS.  If your laptop stays on for a long time at full brightness be sure your battery is going to weaken or drop faster over time and then finally drop its working hours.
Always try to reduce your laptop’s brightness or use it in auto brightness. This way the laptop will automatically adjust the brightness for you according to the environment you’re working in.

IDLE PROGRAMS. Most users have a habit of opening multiple programs and then leaving them minimized in the taskbar, this means RAM is fully functional and some percentage of the GPU and CPU. If all of these are running and the PC is not plugged into power it obviously means the battery is being drained.
So always have that habit of closing unwanted programs and keep with the few in operation and you will find that your battery won’t drain fast. This also applies to smart phones, always close all background apps to increase battery length.

HIBERNATION. Leaving your laptop in Hibernation for long hours reduces the health and strength of the battery. Even worse when you leave it in Hibernation and then move with it, this can even kill the laptop itself as these vibrations in power mode are not good for the motherboard. Always leave your laptop in one place if you’re to set it in hibernation, and cover the lead.

GAMES. Games are known to use high resolution which creates much pressure on the GPU (Graphics Processing Unit). This increases battery drainage at a very high speed, therefore it is advisable to plug in the power adaptor when using the laptop for gaming. If not close to a power source then only play for half the rating of your battery by the company and store till next charge. This means that if your laptop was rated to last 5 hours from the factory and it still does, then use it for 3 hours maximum and then store to you charge it full again.

THE GPU.  If you’re not a professional video editor, gamer or run any program that uses the GPU as a must, then it would be wise to disable it and this will greatly improve both your laptop’s speed and increase battery life. This is a rare case but if you fall between th gaps then you will benefit more. If you need more helpt doing this, check out this video HERE.

MINIMUM TO CHARGE.  It is wise to set you laptop’s battery warning percentage to 20%, this will help you minimize chances of completely draining it to zero. It is not a good practice to always empty you battery to zero till you charge again as this will weaken the battery life and strength.
Always use up to 20% and then charge to full, this way you will preserve your battery at same capacity for a long time.
